Lindsey Cope (Camp Director, Music Director)
Lindsey has been a part of Truett Camp since 1995 and it is her favorite place in the world! She believes that God is always at work at Truett Camp and this is the place He has taught her the most. As a kid, she always loved and wanted a career in music. It was at Truett Camp she found a love of choral music under the direction of John Tagliarini and pursued Choral Music Education at Mars Hill College. She taught 10 years in public education, then attended the University of Tennessee for her Masters in Music Theory as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and also earned a second Masters in Choral Conducting. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Music Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of South Carolina.
Caleb Parham (Camp Pastor)Caleb lives in Sylva, NC and is currently a fifth grade teacher at Cherokee Elementary School. He has been involved at Truett as a camper or a staff member since 1996. He is married to his beautiful wife Elise Parham and is a father to his wonderful daughter, Joanna. He recently graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in elementary education. Truett Camp has always been a home away from home for Caleb his entire life. One thing he wants to make sure this year is that each person goes home from camp with a hunger for spiritual growth throughout their lives.
Wendy Britt (Camp Staff)
Wendy lives in Murphy and teaches at Hiwassee Dam High School. She went to college at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and East Carolina University. She served as an International Mission Board missionary in Bordeaux, France. Wendy has been an integral part of Truett Camp for many years.
Carol Moss (Camp Staff)
Carol lives in the big city of Marble, NC. She teaches K-8 music at Martins Creek and Ranger Elementary/Middle Schools. For Carol, Truett Music Camp is a great place to spend a week in the summer with Christian friends from all over Western NC while learning more about worshipping God through music. Why, she loves it so much she's been going to camp since the 80's! Carol loves to teach and play handbells, not only at camp, but also at church and with the middle school students at her school. Her favorite color is purple.
Amy Carter (Camp Staff)
Amy Carter has been a part of Truett Camp since about 1990. She has served HSMW as camp pianist, piano/vocal and interpretive movement instructor, and even camp counselor! Returning this summer, Amy is finishing her 26th year of teaching music in Cherokee County Schools. She has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Music Education from WCU. She and her husband Rick, also a music teacher, have one daughter, Rebecca. They are members of Little Brasstown Baptist Church.
Ben McKinnon (Camp Counselor)
Ben currently lives in Charlotte, NC. Music is his life. He has a Music Education Bachelors concentrating in voice from Gardner-Webb University. Singing and playing the piano/organ nearly consume his free time. Over the years Truett Camp has become Ben's second home. He is now the chorus teacher at Belmont Middle School in Charlotte, NC.
Rebekah Huff (Camp Counselor)
Rebekah is from Mars Hill, NC and works at Madison Middle School, teaching math and coaching. She loves anything music, whether its drums and guitar or classic Bach. She can't wait for Truett Camp Music Weeks! Camp combines God and the pursuit of Him with music. In her opinion, it's the perfect way to spend a couple of weeks in the summer.
Samantha lives in Sylva, NC. Truett Camp is one of her favorite places on Earth, and she can't wait to spend part of her summer there. She has been on staff at Truett Camp since 2008. She loves to see teenagers form a true relationship with Christ. Over the years, her Truett Camp experiences have been some favorite memories.
Randy Glass (Camp Counselor)
Randy lives near Murphy, NC and works as a custodian for Cherokee County Schools. He's married to his wife, Pam, and they have 2 kids, Randi Kaye and Andrew. His family is involved in their church, Murphy First Baptist, where he teaches Sunday School. Randy is an intense Florida Gator fan. He is heavily involved with High School sports, helping out in volleyball, varsity football and basketball. Randy has worked at Truett Camp since 1998. For him, Music Weeks provide an opportunity to learn more about music, reconnect with friends and grow closer with God without all the distractions of the outside world.
Brian Gatti (Camp Counselor)
Brian currently lives in the small, but beautiful, community of Nantahala in Western North Carolina. He attends Western Carolina University pursuing a degree in Middle Grades Math & Science with a minor in Music. Brian loves listening, playing, writing, and participating in just about anything involving music. He plays a variety of stringed instruments, such as guitar and banjo, as well as percussion instruments such as drum set and the marching snare. Brian has been a member of the John C. Campbell Folk School Clogging team for the past 11 years, and their English Border Morris Dance team for 5 years. While in school, Brian enjoyed playing basketball and running cross country. Brian is very interested in technology and computers. In addition to building several computers, he has coded several web sites and applications using the HTML, CSS, Java, and PHP languages. Brian first attended Truett Camp in the summer of 2012, and has loved every second of it. At camp, he enjoys the music, fun, friends, and food. But most importantly, he enjoys the presence of the Lord and the study of the word.
Elise Parham (Camp Counselor)
Elise lives in Sylva, NC and is currently the Band Director at Bethel Middle School. She is happily married to Caleb Parham and together they have a beautiful daughter named Joanna (who will be attending camp this year as well). Elise has a love of music that stems back to the early developments of her life. She feels a deep connection with the Lord especially when worshiping through music. She has been involved at Truett Camp since 2016 and is excited to see what God has in store for this summer.
Caylen Cooper (Camp Counselor)
Caylen is from Whittier, NC. She has been attending Truett Camp since 2011. She gave her life to the Lord at camp, and ever since, Truett camp has been a second home to her. She is in college currently and loves to go on mission trips and to travel. She's currently working as a certified nursing assistant in the nursing home setting. She's very excited for another year of camp and to see God's amazing work!
Cully Barr (Camp Counselor)
Cully currently lives in Berea, Kentucky where he attends Berea College. He is studying music with a concentration in piano performance. Cully works at the college as a labor accompanist for the vocal and instrumental students. It has inspired him to pursue a degree in piano pedagogy and to become a full-time accompanist. He has attended Truett Camp since the summer of 2015, and this year will be his first year as a counselor. He is very excited to join the staff of Truett Camp because he feels God leading him down this path.
Selah Chandler (Camp Counselor)
Selah is from Waynesville, North Carolina, and loves Truett Music weeks. She first attended Truett in the summer of 2009, and has loved attending every summer since. She is a long-time pianist, and loves all types of music, but especially jazz, soul, and folk music. She is a fan of long books and lots of coffee. Currently, Selah is attending Haywood Community College to obtain her Associates Degree, but some day she hopes to be an American History Teacher. Camp Truett and its amazing people have changed her life and helped her fall in love with God so much more. She can’t wait to see how He changes lives this summer too.
Elizabeth Seastrunk (Camp Staff)
Elizabeth is a graduate of Clemson University where she earned a degree in Financial Management. She later earned her Master of Arts and Teaching in Business Education through Winthrop University. Elizabeth taught in the Cherokee County school system for 12 years and currently teaches middle school in Henderson County. Elizabeth has been a part of Truett Camp vicariously through her children since 2007. Both of her children impatiently waited for music camp each summer. Truett Music Camp played an important part in her children’s Christian walk and also helped to foster their love of music. She is so excited to join the staff this summer and to experience first-hand the incredible ways God works through the music created in this special place.
Keeley Peek (Camp Counselor)
Keeley is from Weaverville, NC and is a student at the University of North Carolina Asheville. She loves singing and playing music, especially jamming out on her ukulele. She enjoys playing soccer as well as being outdoors with her family. She always looks forward to being at Truett camp and the amazing God filled environment that it creates. The people at Truett Camp have had such a great impact on her life and she has made life-long friends that have encouraged her on her walk with Christ.
J Gilbert (Camp Director - Retired)
J has been involved with Music Weeks at Truett Camp since the summer of 1976. He is the music director at First Baptist Bryson City. He and his wife, Barbara, live near Bryson City and have 2 children, Lori and Marty.
Lori Gilbert (Camp Director - Retired)
Lori first attended Truett Camp at the age of two when her dad began directing the Music Camp and hasn't missed a summer yet! She was a 'legal' camper at the girls' camps and music week until she became a counselor at 18. She has directed Middle School Music Week since its inception in 1996 and has directed the High School Music Week, with the rest of the Gilbert crew, for many years. Camp is an amazing place where Lori has been able to cultivate a strong relationship with her Savior as well as some wonderful relationships with other Christians. She can think of nowhere else she'd rather be!
Marty Gilbert (Camp Director - Retired)

Marty is a Computer Science professor at Mars Hill College, where he received a Bachelor's degree. He received a Master's degree from Duke University in 2002. He's been at Truett Camp every summer since he was born (it pays to be the director's kid!). Sarai has spent every summer since she was 8 at Truett Camp. She received a Music Industry degree from Western Carolina University in 2003. Marty & Sarai actually met at Truett Camp years ago and were married in 2004. Marty enjoys keeping up with sports. Sarai enjoys being creative and organized. Together, they enjoy Duke basketball and college ministry.
